Twenty Indian junior men will compete in the Sultan of Johor Cup, according to Hockey India


<p>The 20-person Indian Junior Men’s Hockey Team has been announced by Hockey India. <p>Instead of the usual 6 teams that has featured in previous editions, the 11th Sultan of Johor Cup in 2023 will include 8 teams.</p>
<p>While Pool A will include Germany, Australia, South Africa, and Great Britain, Pool B will include India, Malaysia, Pakistan, and New Zealand. Vice Captain Rajinder Singh will support Captain Uttam Singh in his mission to guide India to a top-two finish in Pool B and guarantee qualifying for the semifinals.</p>
<p>Indian Men’s Junior Hockey squad Coach CR Kumar commented on the impending competition by saying, “The selection committee has taken into account all past competitions to come out with a well-balanced squad to compete and excel in the 11th Sultan of Johor Cup 2023. Players with the ability to outperform the opposition and play incisive passes between the lines should be encouraged and given the chance. The competition offers a chance to evaluate and comprehend six countries that will compete in the FIH Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup in 2023, and it is being held in a climate similar to that of Kuala Lumpur in December.</p>
<p>Amandeep Lakra, Rohit, Sunil Jojo, Sukhvinder, Amir Ali, and Yogember Rawat will be the defenders traveling to Johor, while Mohith H S and Ranvijay Singh Yadav will be in charge of the goalkeeping department.</p>
<p>Dynamic players like Poovanna C. B., Vishnukant Singh, Rajinder Singh, Amandeep, Sunit Lakra, and Abdul Ahad will be present in the midfield in the meanwhile. Uttam Singh, Arun Sahani, Aditya Lalage, Angad Bir Singh, Gurjot Singh, and Sathish B make up the front department of the squad.</p>
<p>The team has been working hard in training, and the players who weren’t selected for the squad the last time have also improved their performances, boosting the level of the team as a whole, said captain Uttam Singh when he announced his intentions for the 11th Sultan of Johor Cup in 2023. We are enthusiastic to defend our championship in the 11th Sultan of Johor Cup 2023, a significant competition leading up to the FIH Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup 2023.</p>
