Shubman Gill will go to Ahmedabad on Wednesday but is still uncertain for the Pakistan encounter

Shubman Gill, the starting opener for India, is making steady progress in his recovery from dengue fever but he is still a questionable starter for the pivotal World Cup match against Pakistan on Saturday.<img decoding=”async” class=”alignnone wp-image-228643″ src=”https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/theindiaprint.com-shubman-gill-will-go-to-ahmedabad-on-wednesday-but-is-still-uncertain-for-the-paki.jpg” alt=”theindiaprint.com shubman gill will go to ahmedabad on wednesday but is still uncertain for the paki” width=”1246″ height=”704″ srcset=”https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/theindiaprint.com-shubman-gill-will-go-to-ahmedabad-on-wednesday-but-is-still-uncertain-for-the-paki.jpg 299w, https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/theindiaprint.com-shubman-gill-will-go-to-ahmedabad-on-wednesday-but-is-still-uncertain-for-the-paki-150×85.jpg 150w” sizes=”(max-width: 1246px) 100vw, 1246px” title=”Shubman Gill will go to Ahmedabad on Wednesday but is still uncertain for the Pakistan encounter 3″>

At the Arun Jaitley Stadium in this city, Gill’s teammates will be competing against Afghanistan even as Gill arrives in Ahmedabad later in the day.

“Gill is doing well and is scheduled to depart from Chennai for Ahmedabad today. It is yet unknown whether Gill would participate in a brief training session on Thursday at Motera. He has recovered well, but it’s still unclear whether he will be able to play against Pakistan, a BCCI source said under the condition of anonymity.

Gill had missed the first match against Australia in Chennai and the match against Afghanistan on Wednesday.

Gill had to be brought to a hospital in Chennai for regular medical testing last week since his platelet count had fallen below 70,000. He was released after 24 hours.

Gill, who is very fit, is known to heal more quickly than some of the others.

There is a school of thinking that claims Gill may be more successful than flamboyant Ishan Kishan even at 70% fitness, but a dengue infection seriously weakens the body, thus it would only be fair to enable the right-hander to be 100% fit before Bangladesh’s match.
