‘The Bubble Has Burst’: Pakistan in the 2023 ICC World Cup

<p>But, Pakistan’s momentum was severely halted on October 14 when the team played India in their third game. At the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup, the Men in Blue continued their rule over Pakistan as they triumphed over their bitter rivals with 19.3 overs remaining.</p>
<p>In what turned into an exciting match for the spectators, India’s batsmen offered Pakistan’s bowlers no breaks during their eighth meeting of the two teams in the ICC ODI World Cup.</p>
<p>Pakistan was greeted with great warmth in Hyderabad, India, as they arrived for the ICC World Cup. They were originally seen as one of the top four semi-final prospects because of their unconventional style of play.</p>
<p>But since they lost badly to India in their third-round encounter of the competition, this optimism turned out to be a mirage.</p>
<p>Social media is flooded with memes that netizens have created of the squad. One commented, “A below-par team, bubble burst.”</p>
<p>Former cricket player Ramiz Raza said that the team captained by Babar Azam was not even in the race against India.</p>
<p>“Come in if you can’t win. At least try.” Ramiz said on The ICC Review podcast that Pakistan was unable to do that.</p>
<p>Pakistan still had some time after the setback to India, but the team totally lost steam and has already suffered four straight losses.</p>
<p>The most devastating loss for Pakistan occurred when the team suffered its first men’s ODI loss against Afghanistan. Pakistan needed to win to get back on track after losing against Australia, but Afghanistan easily reached the mark of 282, dealing a serious blow to the team captained by Babar Azam.</p>
<p>The defeat to South Africa in Chennai severely damaged Pakistan’s hopes of reaching the semifinals. Pakistan failed to consistently perform at their best at the World Cup, even though they showed flashes of their talent.</p>
<p>Their batting and bowling groups both fell short of expectations! The Pakistani squad generated a lot of hype on social media before to the enormous athletic event.</p>
<p>But all of it was destroyed when the Men-in-Green invaded the field.</p>
<p>The bowling unit under Shaheen Afridi was brutally destroyed by the batsmen.</p>
