India’s WTO triumph was hampered by the Abu Dhabi ministerial failure: SJM

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) affiliate Swadeshi Jagran Manch has said that India has won the 13th WTO Ministerial Conference since there was no agreement reached on the majority of the concerns.

India, which has been defending developing countries’ interests at the WTO, has benefited from the failure of the 13th Ministerial Conference in Abu Dhabi, according to Ashwani Mahajan, the National Co-Convener of SJM. According to Mahajan, India ought to be seen as a rescuer of emerging and least developed nations rather than as a hindrance to WTO consensus.

“A consensus could not be reached and the conference ended without conclusion regarding important issues, with the exception of one tariff moratorium on e-products, where agreement could be reached despite strong opposition from the majority of member countries,” according to Mahajan, “despite extension.”

Important concerns like as public stockholding for food security, subsidies for fisheries, and the China-led Investment Facilitation for Development Agreement were not resolved by the meeting.
