Rajnath visits the president of the Maldives and talks defence cooperation


Tuesday, Maldives President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and military Minister Rajnath Singh met to examine ways to strengthen military cooperation between the two South Asian neighbours.
Excellent meeting in the President's Office in Male with HEP Ibrahim Mohamed Solih. Following his meeting with the Maldivian president on Tuesday, Singh tweeted, “We discussed a wide range of issues to further strengthen the relations between India and the Maldives.
Rajnath, who is in the Maldives for three days, has seen a wide range of dignitaries and seen initiatives that have been supported by India there.
He was there at a dinner last night that his Maldivian colleague Mariya Didi hosted. In celebration of her visiting Indian counterpart, H.E. @rajnathsingh, H.E. @MariyaDidi organised a dinner. The Maldives' Defence Ministry announced that Min Didi “reiterated that tonight's dinner was an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of partnership and to renew their commitment to strengthen cooperation and collaboration.”
The Indian minister also spoke with Abdulla Shahid, the foreign minister. He tweeted that he was “happy to have met with Maldives Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid in Male today.”
In order to successfully manage common issues like marine security, terrorism, radicalization, piracy, trafficking, organised crime, and natural catastrophes, India and the Maldives are collaborating closely.
Together with its “Neighbourhood First” policy and the “India First” policy of the Maldives, India's SAGAR (Security and Growth for All in the Region) vision aims to jointly develop the capabilities within the Indian Ocean Region.
